Blueberry Picking

Berry Patch Farm

Yesterday we went to Berry Patch Farms to go blueberry picking. More just for fun, than we really needed blueberries. It started out great, Katie finding blueberries for her bucket and Sam running around free in the rows of bushes/thickets.

After this, it quickly took a downward turn. It started to get unbearably hot, Katie pricked her finger on a thorn, and it turned out was allergic to something she came in contact with. So I quickly packed both kids up and headed home with my measly 1 1/4 lbs of blueberry. I think the trip would have gone better had we done 2 things. 1) Gone early, early in the am to avoid the heat and 2) Made sure that Miguel went with us. So maybe next year we'll attempt it again, and I'll be at the ready with the Benadryl.

Before I forget or move onto something else....

...I thought I would post a few pics from what we've been doing over the past week. They include: eating tons of Popsicles, playing in the driveway in their police car, watering the vegetable garden (and themselves :) ), painting canvases for mommy to hang up, and rolling money from Katie's piggy bank (all $53.40 of it!) to be taken to the bank for Katie. So enjoy the pics, it's taken me almost all week to get them together. :)

Last minute escape to Hilton Head Island

Last week we decided on Wednesday evening to head to Hilton Head early Thursday morning. So after some quick reservations, laundry, and packing, we drove the short 4 1/2 hour drive down there. We, of course, had to stop at Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Nothing like lots of fat and starch when you're on a road trip. :) It really was a great 3 day trip. The beach and hotel were B-U-S-Y, but it was still very enjoyable. Katie enjoyed herself the most, although Sam fair loved the beach and pool too. He wasn't fond of the waves as they broke, but as long as he was at the shore line or actually in the water past where they broke, he was fine. Sam can actually doggy paddle if you hold him under his stomach. It is quite a thing to behold, watching this little 14 month old paddle around the pool. Kate, as you will notice, will not go in the water without her floatie and floatie vest. But she does quite well swimming around the pool by herself. Even being so brave as to swim around the deep end by herself. Yay Katie!!!We took the kids swimming at night after dinner, spent all day on the beach and by the pool, watched movies before bed, and had a couple of snacks out of the mini bar. Sometimes that $4 pack of M&Ms just hits the spot. Oh and on the way back, we stopped at this gas station we've stopped at before where they let you feed their animals. They have a bull, a cow, a couple of ostriches, a llama, goats, geese, and a donkey. :) So anyway, here are some pics from the trip, and a couple of videos.

Happy Belated 4th of July!

This is late getting posted, but we took an unexpected but much enjoyed last minute escape to the beach, which pics I am still working on and are soon to be posted. So we came back from the beach Saturday afternoon just in time to see the fireworks put out by the Cherokee Country Club or wait that might Chattahoochee Country Club, that we can see from our front yard. I know, we're lucky ducks. Anyway, we also bought some ground fireworks like spinners, tanks, parachuting men, fountains, and chickens. Katie, I think enjoyed those more than the big fireworks. Which I am happy to report, neither of my kids were afraid of. Yippeeee!!! Sam was, however, afraid of our small ground fireworks. Somehow being that close to flame and sparks scared the living daylights out of him. Go figure. LOL. Anyway.....here are assorted pics and a video of Sam screaming at a tank we set off.

Butterfly Festival

So today, despite it being 96 degrees out, I took the kids to the Butterfly Festival at the Dunwoody Nature Center. Katie really enjoyed herself. Sam, not so much, of course because he really didn't understand what we were doing. In any case, Katie got to make a few butterfly themed crafts, feed the butterflies sugar water in the butterfly tent, listen to a preschool type concert in the "meadow", and play in the creek. We actually made it 2 1/2 hours before Sam just lost it with me. Too hot, hungry, thirsty, tired, you name it, he was. So here are the pics from the day. Enjoy! Tomorrow we are headed to Sweet Water Creek Ruins for a photog get together that should be a blast. I hope to have a ton of pics from that tomorrow.

Ultimate Playdate

So Sara had talked about this Ultimate Playdate last week and last minute today I decided to take the kids up there when Sara invited us. It was a blast!! I am pretty sure we will be returning next, along with our bathing suits to enjoy the creek. The kids got to tumble on a tumbling ramp, play in bubbles, jump on a mini trampoline, dance on stage to the musician, hula hoop, and just generally run around. Of course, Katie's very most favorite part was doing forward rolls on the ramp. Which for some reason, I have no pictures of, but you all can use your imaginations on this one. So Kate and Avery played with all that stuff, Sam and Zoe ate and wandered around the park. So here are some pics to enjoy of our little adventure today. It was so worth sitting in the heat for. :)
