343lb deadlift

Miguel's 343lb deadlift

So while I am gathering up all of my other pics from last week, I thought I would brag about my super strong hubby. Most of you know we do Crossfit. Well the goal is always to try and get new PRs(personal records) in your workouts. Whether it be that you finished the same workout 2 minutes faster, or you lifted 64 lbs more than you did last time. That's what Miguel did this week. He was able to deadlift 343lbs vs 279lbs last time he attempted it. Isn't that a great improvement? And not only that, but we really think he could have lifted more. So, good job Miguel and keep on truckin'. I am sure that next time you will blow this PR away.

And the last one...

...to get you all caught up. LOL
We went down to Jacksonville, Fl for the Dirty South Crossfit Qualifiers. Kim from our gym was competing and we wanted to cheer her on. As luck would have it, she ended up being injured, but competed anyways. She was an inspiration to us, watching her compete basically on one leg. She rocked it and would so have been in the top 7. Next year for sure. ;) And maybe I'll even be competing too. I wouldn't think I would make it to the top 7, I have a loooonnnggg way to go. But why not try? :)Anyway, here are some pics from the event. I have soooooo many more, that I will post later, hopefully.

Ok. Here's one that makes me feel good about myself .

Because I am happy with the amount of weight I have lost. And because it is important to be proud of your accomplishments, especially when there was a lot of hard work that went into it. I'm still not where I want to be forever. I have more toning to do and about 10-15 more lbs to lose. But overall, if I never lost another lb or made it down another size, I'd be comfortable and happy. I really love working out though. Don't get me wrong, in the middle of a workout I question why I do this to myself day in and day out. But after a workout, I just feel so good and happy. So anyway, the pictures are of me with my size 18 jeans that I was wearing right after I had Sam and then me being goofy. Next time I take one of these shots, I need to wear something a little tighter I think. But I think you guys get the gist anyway. I did at one point have a pair of size 20 shorts, but thankfully, those are long gone. Although it would be nice to have those just to see how much I have lost since I wore those (which was before I had Katie). Mostly, I can thank my hubby for the motivation, and Crossfit for getting to this point.

So what are the other reasons I haven't been around?

Mainly, that I took Katie out of school and that I joined the Crossfit gym with Miguel. The whole process of going to the gym, working out and coming back home takes about an hour and half. Doesn't sound like a long time, but you know there is a lot I would normally get done in an hour and a half at home. I don't know if anyone else looks at it this way, but I do. Every hour of my day basically has a goal. I don't always reach them, but the goals are there. In any case, yesterday was my first day there, we did a workout called Fight Gone Bad. I think I have posted the link before as to what Crossfit is, but in case you missed it. Check it out here. I promise, I am not crazy. :) The workouts are addicting. And the results are phenomenal. Oh and I should mention, I do the workouts way scaled down. I am not lifting 65lbs over my head, yet. Miguel has had me doing somewhat of a Crossfit workout since August. In August I wore a size 16, now a size 10. So with some prompting from Miguel, I decided to join him and actually go to the gym and workout. I am hoping to get in really good shape and get to a size 6 by next summer. As most of you women may know, it is SO hard to get from an 8 to a 6, so that's why the goal is so far out.
As to taking Kate out of preschool.... Things just were not working out for us there. Mostly it had to do with her behavior at home after school and then a few things I just did not like about her being there with a class so much younger than her. We've been doing a school type program at home, and have started a home school co-op with Robin and Mr. Caleb. It's been going really well so far and Katie loves it. She actually asks to do her "school work". Which consists of the preschool workbooks, major amounts of "art" time, some time spent trying to get her to understand how to use the computer, a good amount of story time, P.E., music time, and tomorrow we start some basic Spanish. Which by the way if you didn't know, she's half Chilean, so it's about time we start teaching it to her. Most of it she's sees as playtime with the exception being the work books. But I've been impressed with the rate she flies through those. So I'll continue to do this with her for awhile and we'll see how it goes. Hopefully well, if not, we'll figure something else out.
In any case, I'll post some pictures of her art projects later, because they are so cute and they'll give you a smile, or maybe a laugh. Till later ya'll.

So as you may or may not know.....

Miguel has been steadily losing weight and has lost to date about 80 lbs. He recently joined CrossFit to help him get super fit. So today I went to go check it out and it was fun. Should have eaten before I went, because I ended being really sick to my stomach afterward because of it, but lesson learned. I have managed to lose 54 lbs by myself, hopefully CrossFit will help me lose this last 20 or so and get in really good shape. :) One of these days, I'll feel brave enough to post a before and after picture. Right now, not so brave.
